Quick Retracting Toolpost (MLA-16D)
Operating the handle of the quick retracting toolpost withdraws the tool instantly when cutting either external or internal threads. Depending on how the toolpost is assembled on the topslide, the handle for withdrawing the tool can be set in any position the operator desires. An adjustment screw regulates the amount of withdrawal, which is available up to a maximum of 3/8" when turning threads up to a shoulder. The toolpost accepts turning tools up to 3/8" square and boring bars up to 3/4" diameter. Two iron castings are supplied with the kit, a body casting similar to that of the other kits in the MLA-16 series, and a casting for making the cover plate and eccentric ring. Also included are drawings, machining instructions, and a 3/8-16 x 4" mounting screw.
